Prof. J. A. Garrido Ardila has been elected a Fellow of the Royal Historical Society (London, UK) in recognition of his contribution to historical scholarship. As an expert on Spanish intellectual history, Ardila is the author of the books Etnografía y politología del 98 (Biblioteca Nueva, 2007) and Textos del Desastre. La última gran crisis (1898) (Castalia, 2013). His research into post-colonial intellectual history has analysed the thought of some of the foremost Spanish essayists including Miguel de Unamuno, Ángel Ganivet, Ramiro de Maeztu, and José Ortega y Gasset in the context of the Restoration crisis and the loss of empire.
